Well we can put another Durrant Jeep Rally in the books for 2011. We weren't sure we were going to be able to negotiate the trails without our TrailBoss, but we somehow managed to find a couple of trails to keep us happy. A few of us showed up Thursday night and made ready for the action to begin on Friday morning. We hit Minor Threat and Green Day out at BFE.
Near the end of Minor Threat I went ahead and lost my breaks backing off of a ledge. That ended my day. I left the jeep on Strike Ravine and walked Green Day. I was a bit sad I didn't get to drive Green Day, but it was fun watching Trent and Dad. I know, I know, seeing the hood up on the Trusty Jeep and having to leave her to come back with parts to fix it broke my heart too, especially after all the fun I made of the CJ when she would go down. Luckily the CJ6 is only a few years from being TrailWorthy.
For Saturday we met up with Sheryl & Eddie, Vern & Shelley + their girl's, and Grandma & Grandpa for a scenic drive up Rose Garden Hill and over to Top of The World. Right before we got to Rose Garden, we ran into a group of Ultra Runners from Kansas, they were worried about their runner who had been running straight since 5:00 p.m. the previous night. He was late to the check point and they feared he was hurt and they knew he needed water. They were in a rented Jeep Commander and hopped in with Dad and Shari to hitch a ride as they couldn't go any further. Once we hit the top of Rose Garden, Dad took them ahead to try and find their runner. They found him and he didn't look too good, but he was grateful to have the water and he wasn't physically injured but his pacer said, "he's in a deep dark place." He was trying to brake the record on the 142 mile Kokopelli Trail and had been on pace the night before.
The view from the Top of the World is pretty sweet.
Sunday we took a day off from Jeeping to go to Church, it was actually quite nice to not be bouncing around in the Jeep again and just take it easy. Monday we headed out to Rusty Nail. Caroline made it up the ledge before Riff Raff just fine. Dad and Shari took the strap and then to get over Riff Raff we did a lot of rock stacking.
I have more video than pictures, so I'll try to edit something and get it up fairly soon. Hopefully the rest of you will post up your pictures.

Like the commentary, but the still pics don't show the action. I'll be looking forward to the video. Let me know when it's posted!
I'll try to put up some action shots for you.
